Convert video to MP4

Drop one or many MOV, MKV, WebM or M4V files and get MP4s that play everywhere. When the picture is already H.264 (most cameras, screen recorders and phones in Most Compatible mode) it is copied into the MP4, not re-encoded: done in seconds, nothing lost. Other video is converted to H.264 on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

MP4 that plays on phones, Windows, Macs and every editor. When the picture is already H.264, it is copied, not re-encoded: no quality lost, done in seconds.

    What you can download here

    • MP4 with the H.264 picture copiedsame picture, new wrapper, seconds
    • MP4 converted to H.264HEVC, VP9 or AV1 re-encoded, AAC sound

Example: OBS recordings for an editor

    Start with
Three MKV files from OBS (H.264 video, AAC sound).
    Do this
    Drop all three at once.
    You get
Three MP4s, each listed as "H.264 picture copied, no quality lost", ready for Premiere or CapCut.

An MKV with several audio tracks keeps only the first one in the MP4.

    Good to know

Screen recorders such as OBS are often set to MKV so a crash can't ruin the recording. The video inside is usually H.264, so converting it here is a copy, like OBS's own Remux, without opening OBS.

    Questions

Why won't my MOV or MKV open?

Some phones, players and editors only accept MP4. MOV and MKV are wrappers: the video inside is often already H.264, so it only needs a new wrapper, which is what this does.

    Does converting lose quality?

Not when the picture is H.264: it is copied bit for bit. HEVC, VP9 or AV1 video is re-encoded to H.264 at a high bitrate. Each file says which happened.

Can it convert iPhone HEVC videos?

When your browser can play HEVC (Chrome and Edge on most recent computers can), yes: they come out as H.264 for editors and PCs that can't open HEVC. If the browser can't decode the file, it is listed with the reason.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes. Drop them together: they are converted one after another, and you press Save on each.
