Privacy policy
Short version: your files never leave your device, and we don't track you.
Files you open
Video, audio and subtitle files you open are read and processed inside your browser tab: transcription, clip export, loudness, sync and silence detection all run on your own computer. They are never uploaded to Cuescribe.
Links you paste
When you paste a TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or X link and ask for a transcript, the link is sent to our server, which asks the platform for that video's captions. For some links (YouTube when the platform refuses our server, and Instagram, Facebook and X) our server asks Supadata (supadata.ai), a transcript service, to fetch the captions instead. Only the link is shared with them, never your files.
Successful lookups are cached for up to 6 hours so repeat requests are fast; we don't keep a list of the links you paste. Our server runs on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site, including rate limiting.
The browser extension
If you install it, the extension asks YouTube for captions directly from your browser and passes them to this site. It doesn't read your browsing, your YouTube account or any other site.
Downloads from third parties
The first time you transcribe, the speech model downloads from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Program libraries come from jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) and typefaces from Google Fonts. These services see an ordinary download request from your browser, never your files.
Stored in your browser
Your current transcript, settings and theme choice are saved in your browser's local storage so you can pick up where you left off. Clearing site data deletes them. None of it is sent to us.
What we don't do
No accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies, no selling or sharing of personal data.
Changes
If this changes (for example when a paid plan with accounts launches), we'll update this page and the date above first.
