A free Descript alternative, for single jobs
If you open Descript for one job, removing filler words, getting a transcript, cleaning noise or cutting a captioned clip, Cuescribe does that job free in your browser, with no monthly transcription minutes, no watermark and no upload. If you want one multitrack editor where you edit everything by editing text, with collaboration and recording built in, Descript is the better tool.

What people say
On r/podcasting, users describe Descript saving them hours, and also its "keep only the last take" automation getting takes wrong; a developer built a free command-line filler remover because "Whisper alone misses a lot of the fillers".
About Descript
Descript's free plan limits transcription to a monthly media-minute allowance and watermarks video exports; paid plans raise the allowance (as summarised from its pricing page in October 2026; check descript.com/pricing for current terms). What Pro includesQuestions
Is Cuescribe really free compared with Descript?
Yes. The tools run on your own computer, so they cost us almost nothing to offer: no account, no watermark, no monthly minutes or credits. Pro is optional and only adds delivery features.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Files are processed in your browser tab. Only pasted links (for transcripts) are fetched by our server.
