Crop a video

Cut away the edges of a video: a black border, a watermark in the corner, a stranger in the shot, or everything but the part you want to show. Drag a box on the picture, or pick a shape (16:9, 9:16, square, 4:5) and move it. The cropped video keeps its sound. It runs in your browser: no upload, no watermark.

How to use it

Good to know

Questions

Does cropping lower the quality?

Cropping keeps fewer pixels, so a small crop of a 1080p video has fewer than 1080 lines; nothing is scaled up. The picture is re-encoded once at a high bitrate. The output is the size of the box, up to 1920 pixels on the long side.

Can I crop a horizontal video to vertical?

Yes: pick 9:16 and move the box onto the subject. For a fixed size such as 1080×1920, or to keep the whole picture with a blurred background, use the video resizer instead.

Can I crop out a watermark?

Yes, by cropping that edge away. Only remove watermarks from videos you have the right to edit.

Is the sound kept?

Yes, the whole soundtrack, in sync.
