Remove mouth clicks

Mouth clicks are the number one complaint of people who clean up dialogue for a living. Drop a recording: every click is found and the few milliseconds it covers are rebuilt from the sound on either side, the way restoration tools do it. Listen to before and after, then download the WAV or the video with the cleaned sound. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Drop the voice recordingPodcast, voiceover or video.
  2. Choose a sensitivityMedium suits most voices; high catches quieter clicks.
  3. ComparePlay the original and the repaired version, or jump from click to click.
  4. DownloadA WAV, or the video with only its sound replaced.

Questions

Will it change my voice?

Only the clicks are touched: each repair covers about a millisecond. On a clean recording with no clicks it found 3 spots in 30 seconds and the result differed from the original by -56 dB, which you cannot hear. Use the before/after buttons to check yours.

It missed some clicks, or caught a consonant.

Change the sensitivity. High catches quieter clicks but may touch sharp consonants like "t" and "k"; low only takes the obvious ones. Clicks in the middle of a loud vowel are partly hidden by the voice, so those are repaired more gently (only their high-frequency part).

How do I avoid mouth clicks when recording?

Drink water (room temperature, not cold), avoid dairy and coffee just before, try a green apple slice, and keep a little distance from the mic. A pop filter does not stop clicks; hydration does most of the work.

Does it remove other noises?

No: it is made for short clicks. For steady background noise use the background noise remover; for ums and long pauses use the filler word remover.
