TikTok video stats and hook

Paste the link to any public TikTok and see its numbers as TikTok shows them: views, likes, comments, shares and saves, each also per 1,000 views so a small post can be measured against a viral one, plus its engagement rate, when it was posted, its length and its sound. Under them is how it opens: the first words spoken and the text added with TikTok's text tool, then its caption and hashtags. Send it all to ChatGPT and ask why it worked. No login, no download.

Good to know

The numbers are the ones TikTok shows on the post, so they change while people keep watching. Saves need the video page: when TikTok answers with its embed player, they are missing.

Questions

Where do the numbers come from?

From TikTok: the same counts its app and website show under the video, read from the public video page when you press Show the stats. Nothing is estimated. When TikTok answers with its embed player instead, the saves are missing and big counts are rounded the way the player shows them, and the page says so.

Why per 1,000 views?

A post with two million views will have more likes than one with twenty thousand, whatever people thought of it. Dividing by views shows which one people reacted to more. Shares and saves mean someone wanted to send the video on or keep it, so they are worth comparing too.

What is the engagement rate?

Likes, comments, shares and saves added up, as a share of views. 50 likes per 1,000 views means one viewer in twenty liked it.

What is the hook?

How the video opens: what is said in its first three seconds (five when that is under four words), from TikTok's captions, and the first line added with TikTok's text tool. A video with no captions has no spoken hook here; its text and caption still show.

Can it tell me why the video did well?

It shows the facts, not a guess. Press Ask ChatGPT why it worked: ChatGPT gets the numbers, the hook, the length, the sound and the caption, with a question asking what to copy, what to avoid and which points are guesses. Nothing goes to ChatGPT until you press it.

Can I see the stats of someone else's TikTok?

Yes, any public post: these are the numbers TikTok shows everyone. Private and removed posts have none. A profile, sound or hashtag link is not one video: open a video and copy its link.

Is anything stored?

Our server reads the post from TikTok and keeps the answer for up to an hour, so the same link loads fast for the next person. It counts lookups, not who made them. Nothing is liked, followed or posted.
